Kai Greene Skips 2011 Arnold Classic
Kai Greene is the defending champion of the Arnold Classic but today he announced that he will not be doing the show this year! Kai Greene has been keeping behind the scenes after the spanking he received at the Olympia this year. Kai finished a disappointing 7th place at the Olympia this year! , who fell to a disappointing seventh at the 2010 Mr. Olympia after being hailed as a favorite. Kai said that he will be taking off the early part of the new season and would target a contest that will qualify him for the 2011 Olympia. Let's hope it's the Toronto Pro Supershow this June where we are the title sponsor!
'Defending my Arnold Classic title, winning the Australia Grand Prix and competing in the Olympia took a toll on my body last year,' Greene said. 'I've been competing at least three times a year since 2006, and I just felt like my body needed to rest in order for me to be at my best. I wish all of the competitors in the 2011 Arnold Classic the best, and I look forward to being back onstage in Columbus in 2012.'

PHIL HEATH TO SKIP THE 2011 ARNOLD CLASSIC!!
Will focus on Olympia only in 2011
Phil Heath has decided to skip major competitions before. But none of those decisions was tougher than his most recent: to sit out the 2011 Arnold Classic to focus solely on being his best ever at the 2011 Olympia.
'It was a very hard decision for me to make because not doing the Arnold is kind of like an opportunity missed,' Heath said. 'After placing second there two years in a row, that still stings a little bit because I feel like I can win the contest this year. But at what cost would that be? After placing second at the Olympia I feel like I've solidified my position as one of the top two bodybuilders in the world.
'Sitting out gives me the opportunity to make really, really drastic improvements and put myself in a position to bring an even better physique in 2011. And there's no other way to do that except by putting in the time in the gym.'
This isn't the first time Heath has decided to bypass a marquee event with an eye on the future. He skipped the Olympia after qualifying in both 2006 and 2007 - to much criticism - in order to make the necessary improvements to be considered a threat at that contest. The decision paid off, as Heath debuted in Vegas in 2008 with a third-place finish.
This year, Heath lost a close decision to defending Mr. Olympia Jay Cutler. In the eyes of many, that decision could have just as easily gone to Heath.
'Every decision I've made in my career, I've had no regrets on,' Heath said. 'Of course I know I'm gonna have at least a couple days where I'm upset I'm not doing the [Arnold]. But I'm doing this for the reasons of trying to bring my best to the Olympia.'
Joe Weider's 2011 Olympia Weekend will be held on September 16 and 17 in Las Vegas, Nevada.

My Side Note:
2011 is shaping up to be a rest year for Bodybuildings' top contenders with the news that Kai Greene also will be absent from the already star depleted Arnold Classic line up. Will Jay Cutler simply step on stage in average shape and walk away with the HUGE $$ ???
I suppose with the top guys out we look for the next stars on the way up who will knock these guys off in the near future.
With the terrible news that the Arnold Classic event will not be professionally filmed by the GMV Bodybuilding DVD team and has gone the way of low quality on-line coverage fans around the world are making their voices heard in disapproval of this decision on forums and bodybuildings' best websites.
This form of coverage has been proven to be a huge flop with the fans. The fans are voting with their feet and are walking away in droves from shows that are not filmed professionally and can not be viewed in High Quality HD 16:9 Widescreen. Is this contest also doomed to going the way of all the early season pro shows that went down the low quality coverage path and then in turn the low top pro turn out because of it? Without doubt the fans of our great sport deserve better!

Kai Greene of the United States won the Arnold Classic bodybuilding competition at the 2010 Arnold Sports Festival. A check for $130,000 was presented by Gerard Dente of MHP, a trophy was presented by Tim Bentley of GNC, an Audemars Piquet watch by Rhett Ricart, and a Tony Nowak jacket and congratulations from Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger.
Kai Greene also won the Most Entertaining Posing Award and a $10,000 check and trophy presented by Josef Kagerbauer of Joska Crystal. Branch Warren of the United States was awarded the Most Muscular Man Trophy presented by Rich Gaspari of Gaspari Nutrition.'

Evan Centopani To Do The 2011 FLEX Pro
It looks like IFBB Pro Evan Evan Centopani will be putting the posing trunks back on and doing battle with Dexter Jackson at the FLEX Pro this February 19th in Santa Monica. The last show Evan did was the 2009 New York Pro show which he won by defeating fellow Canadian Vincent Liu and of course the big names like Markus Ruhl, Dennis James, Paco Batista, Ben White, Eurgene Mishin and all others that stood in his way! But this time Canada is sending two mass monsters to both defeat Evan and Dexter. The two Canadians I'm referring to are rising stars and Canadian fan favorites Ben 'Pak Man' Pakulski and Fouad 'Hoss' Abiad. Ben Pakulski is in Venice Beach right now training with Charles Glass. However Fouad Abiad is being trained by Hany Rambod for this show. Evan will definitely be the largest man of the bunch but can he match Dexter's conditioning and symmetry? Pro Figure is coming to the 2011 IFBB Australian Grand Prix
Tony Doherty has been putting on IFBB Pro Bodybuilding shows for years but this year he’s added a pro figure competition. The 2011 Australian Pro Figure Classic will be held on March 12, 2011 in Melbourne, Australia. This is a great opportunity for Arnold competitors to compete in another show just one week after the Figure International. Three Olympia qualification will be up for grabs and from what I’ve heard the venue is world class. There’s a two day expo that coincides with the competition and pros are given a booth to sell their merchandise and interact with fans.

Dennis Wolf Pulls Out Of The 2011 Flex Pro!
News has been released that Dennis Wolf will not be doing the FLEX Pro this February. But with Wolf out, it now makes for a battle between the two favourites going into the show - Evan Centopani and Dexter Jackson. But Ben White has a bone to pick with Evan Centopani who beat him twice before (once as a amateur in the 2006 Jr. National and once as a pro at the 2009 NY Pro). Source muscleinsider

Kai storms back on the big screen with a vengeance in the instant classic bodybuilding film REDEMPTION. Watch as 'The Predator' not only successfully defends his 2009 Arnold Classic crown in 2010, but also settles the score following his disappointing 4th place finish in the 2009 Mr. Olympia.
His defeat at the Olympia was disheartening, but not demoralizing. Big Kai knew he hadn't achieved what he set out to do in Las Vegas because he didn't stay true to his carefully crafted plan. So for his 2010 Arnold Classic preparation plan he stayed true to himself and his strategy, pushing through each gruelling workout with purpose and focus. His one goal - to successfully defend his Arnold Classic title and bring the most massive, shredded and muscular physique to the stage.
REDEMPTION is the story of Kai rising to the challenge, of him not doubting himself or his contest preparation plan, and going on to defeat two bodybuilders who beat him just six months earlier at the Mr. Olympia. The Arnold Classic competition represented his chance to extract sweet revenge... and to set the stage for his second attempt to claim the coveted Sandow trophy.
REDEMPTION chronicles Kai's preparation for the 2010 Arnold Classic, incorporating some of the most highly intense weight training ever captured on video tape. But there's so much more, including Kai's philosophical insight into his motivations to be the greatest bodybuilder in the world, his personal interaction with up-and-coming bodybuilders as a trainer, instructor and inspiration... and his positive message to anyone who, like him, dares to dream about achieving success and being their absolute best.
REDEMPTION explores the mental and spiritual bedrock upon which all of Kai's success has been based. This documentary examines what it takes to become a champion; what it takes to go from 4th place to 1st. Travel with Kai from Brooklyn to Columbus, from uncertainty to confidence, from disappointment to his personal redemption.
