1983 IFBB World Championships (Mr. Universe) - The Show

1983 IFBB Amateur World Championships - The Show This was a sensational Men's World Championships, held outdoors in a huge amphitheatre in central Singapore. I took a group of enthusiastic Adelaide bodybuilding fans to this contest as tour leader. It was an experience of a life time for all of us. In the heavyweight class it was a battle of the giants between a young, ripped and superb Berry DeMey, a mature and sensational Bob Paris and a huge Ralf Moeller of Germany who ended up in third place. Ralf literally dwarfed the others during the posedown. I do not know how close it was on the judges' sheets but in my mind it was a toss up and could have gone either way between the top two. Chuck Williams and Charles Glass, both from USA proved to be very strong and convincing winners of their respective classes as was Appie Steenbeek from Holland and Herman Hoffend from West Germany. Christian Janatsch, 4th place heavyweights, made a strong showing and was there with his girlfriend Rachel McLish, Ms Olympia. Rachel guest posed and her routine is included in this Finals Show DVD. After the contest was over, I approached the 3 USA class winners, Paris, Williams and Glass to arrange video and photo shoots next day at our hotel poolside. Sadly Bob Paris declined but Glass and Williams more than made up for it, turning on a sensational display of hard, ripped 100% in condition muscle for my cameras. This evening show DVD brings you all of the highlights from the show, all the posedowns and all the awards. 93 minutes of the best amateur IFBB bodybuilders in the world! 2006 PDI NIGHT OF CHAMPIONS 2 DISC SET The 27th staging of the Night of Champions in New York was this time staged under Wayne DeMilia’s new PDI banner. This 2006 NOC 2 Disc Set is the FIRST EVER NOC release on DVD. In fact this famous event has almost never ever had a video record made for public consumption. It was held in the Town Hall Theatre on 43rd Street where Arnold Schwarzenegger won his first ever Mr Olympia title in 1970. It was also the home of many early NOC events. As the event flyer said “See the hottest, sexiest best-built men in the world” – “The ultimate in Professional Bodybuilding Entertainment”. Those words pretty well summed up the tone and the feel of the contest. The PDI's stated aim is to put far greater emphasis on entertainment value in their events. Disc #1 is the complete amateur contest which was the Pro Qualifier with 14 top guys going for their pro cards. The top 2 in each class qualified for the NOC pro show. This disc includes an interview with Wayne DeMilia, founder of the PDI, plus a photo gallery of the guys in the Pro Qualifier. Running time 72 minutes extras. Disc #2 is the complete NOC Professional event. Both discs contain the all judging rounds, all posing routines, posedowns and awards. The evening finals commenced with the free posing routines of all 23 competitors. Many innovative and entertaining routines were presented, some with amazing props. The use of props was optional and added to the entertainment value which is an important focus of the PDI. See LEE PRIEST take the crown for his first ever NOC victory. ANDREAS FREY and SAMI AL-HADDAD were worthy runners up. Also see the famous Guru SRI CHINMOY lifting BILL PEARL in various strength feats. Special awards were made to both men. This video includes every comparison and call out of Rounds One and Two, as well as the posing in Round Three. And of course, it also features the magnificent posedowns and final awards. We do not have Paul Dillett in many DVDs and in this one he really shines. DVD footage of Jean Pierre Fux is also quite rare as his career was cut short by his terrible injuries. 1977 WABBA World Championships: Amateur & Professional - Prejudging & Show This prestigious men's event was staged by Serge Nubret in Paris in November 1977. One of the show highlights was the Lifetime Achievement Award presented to special guest STEVE REEVES by Serge Nubret. The show was a sell-out with a fantastic, screaming audience of 3000 crazy fans, typical of events held in Paris. Shot on film with music added, the DVD includes all of the highlights from the Prejudging and Show. See AHMET ENUNLU win the posedown to become Overall WABBA Amateur Mr. World. In the pose-down he defeated Mr. Universe champions such as BILL RICHARDSON and WILFRED SYLVESTER. In the Pro division see a rampant SERGIO OLIVA destroy his main opposition in Tony Emmott and Bill Grant to become Pro Mr World. All of the Pro competitors were former Mr Universe winners. Sergio was Mr Olympia from 1967 to 1969. Next day we taped a pumping and posing film with Sergio at poolside which will be edited and released as part of the Sergio Oliva Super DVD, some time in 2008. 3rd placed Pro competitor BILL GRANT has his own training DVD which is available from GMV. Bill is also in our pumping and posing DVD with Harold Dickinson and Serge Jacobs. Harold was 6th in the Short Class. I have posted a few photos below by Denie from this classic contest. 2000 Iron Man Pro Invitational

2000 Iron Man Pro Invitational "The Real Deal" CHRIS CORMIER makes it back to back victories at the first Iron Man Pro Invitational of the new millennium. Close behind was multi-title winner Flex Wheeler, and new guys Dexter Jackson of USA 3rd and Gunter Schlierkamp of Germany 4th. This gave Gunter qualification for his first ever Olympia. The video also includes the Pump Room, Prejudging highlights and the full posing routines from the top 15 competitors, plus dramatic posedowns and awards. Also see guest poser Russ Testo in his new routine. It was an incredible contest, the largest ever field for an Iron Man Show at 34 competitors, and a great way to start the new century. In this event, no one knew who would win, and in a very close finish, Chris Cormier repeated as the Iron Man Champion, beating out the great 'Flex' Wheeler in a hard fought duel. 2000 Iron Man Pro Invitational "The Real Deal" CHRIS CORMIER makes it back to back victories at the first Iron Man Pro Invitational of the new millennium. Close behind was multi-title winner Flex Wheeler, and new guys Dexter Jackson of USA 3rd and Gunter Schlierkamp of Germany 4th. This gave Gunter qualification for his first ever Olympia. Also see guest poser Russ Testo in his new routine. It was an incredible contest, the largest ever field for an Iron Man Show at 34 competitors, and a great way to start the new century.
